Finding the best real estate company to work for
As a real estate agent, picking a real estate brokerage company to associate with is a very important and difficult decision. Whether you are a new agent just getting started in the business or an established agent looking to make a change you are faced with the same challenges and decisions. When looking for a broker to partner and associate with, it is natural for real estate agents to be thinking “what’s in it for me in this potential relationship?”
About a year ago I found myself in this exact situation. I had been associated with a small independent broker for several years and that broker decided rather abruptly to close their doors due to the downturn in the economy. Since real estate salespeople are required to be associated with a broker, I needed to find a new broker in a hurry to continue my business as an active real estate agent. I wanted to find the best real estate company to work for possible in my area.
I immediately turned to the internet and found myself very quickly frustrated with the dozens of choices available in real estate brokerage companies that I could associate with. They all offered different benefits, different compensation packages, some had franchise fees, some had desk fees, some offered free training, some offered agent websites at no cost, etc. You get the idea.
All of the recruiting websites were similar painting a pretty picture of why they were the ideal company to work for and then almost always requiring me to contact them for more information if I wanted specifics. Hardly anyone published the specifics of what they had to offer right on their website.
This is the reason that I decided to put this blog site together. I’d like to share with you my research on United States based real estate brokers and the items that I feel are important qualities in a real estate broker. I hope that this information will make your decision on finding a new brokerage company a little easier.
At this point, I have already made my decision, but I attempt throughout this blog to remain anonymous and unbiased in the information and advice I am sharing. I hope that this information is useful to you in your decision making process!
