BTEC and other vocational exams will still go ahead this month despite the new national lockdown restrictions, the Department for Education has confirmed tonight.
The prime minister Boris Johnson announced this evening that schools and colleges will move to remote learning for most students from tomorrow and that summer exams will “not go ahead as normal”.
But a spokesperson for the DfE has since confirmed that the 135,000 BTEC and other technical exams starting from tomorrow and being over the next few weeks will go ahead as planned.
I think it’s extremely extremely unfair to have different measures for assessment for students. Fairness and equity are values that are not being considered in this measures. How is it fair to say that summer exams will be cancelled (different assessment) and put BTEC students to sit exams under these circumstances (country in lockdown)? We are equal so 2 weights and 2 measures don’t seem sensible or fair.

Utter madness
But what else do you expect from this government
Risking people while civil servants dictate from the safety of their living rooms
…they would have been at home directing from the châteaux in 1914
